Brief Definitive Report Spontaneous Redistribution of Surface Immunoglobulin in the Motile B Lymphocyte* Materials and Methods the Journal of Experimental Medicine @bullet Volume

چکیده
Most macromolecules are assumed to be distributed randomly on the cell surface, diffusing freely within the plane of the plasma membrane. However, upon interaction with ligands, surface proteins undergo an orderly redistribution and segregation from other macromolecules the phenomenon of capping (1). Capping of various molecules shares certain requirements: a cross-linking ligand producing the stimulus, plus metabolic energy, membrane fluidity, and the participation, still ill defined, of cytoplasmic microfilaments and microtubules (for example, see references 1-5). In this paper we report an example of a surface protein selectively segregated from other surface macromolecules in the absence of any stimulation by ligands. B lymphocytes, during translatory motion, accumulate immunoglobulin (Ig) to one area of their surface. In contrast, two other surface macromolecules remain diffusely distributed. This capping of surface Ig demonstrates a spontaneous change in the distribution of a surface protein during a particular functional state of the cell and may reflect a reversible association between membrane proteins and cytoplasmic structures.

Spontaneous redistribution of surface immunoglobulin in the motile B lymphocyte
This paper reports that B cells undergoing translatory motion spontaneously segregate their surface Ig to one portion of their plasma membrane. The spontaneous redistribution of surface Ig was found to be: (a) selective, concanavalin A-dependent on translatory motion and energy metabolism. Abundant B cells undergoing motility were found after cultures in lipopolysaccharide or trypsin, or after ...
متن کاملBrief Definitive Report Inhibition of the Fc Receptor of Human Lymphoid Cells by Antisera- Recognizing Determinants of the Hla System* the Journal of Experimental Medicine @bullet Volume
B lymphocytes are equipped with a receptor for the recognition of the Fc part of IgG (1, 2) which is not identical to the surface Ig receptor (3). Dickler and Sachs (4) found that anti-Ia antibodies inhibit the binding of aggregated IgG to this receptor, whereas anti-H2D or K antibodies did not have the same effect. On the other hand, Schirrmacher et al. (5) found that also antibodies against o...
متن کاملImprovement of anticomplementary activity assay for the quality control of immunoglobulin product: an Iranian pilot scale study
Abstract Background and Objectives One of the side effects of immunoglobulin administration is the activation of the complement system related to the high concentration of aggregates/large polymers in the production process. Measuring anticomplementary activity (ACA) is important in pharmaceutical quality control and is a criterion of spontaneous activation of complement system in immunoglobuli...
متن کاملRelationship between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and mortality and morbidity of dialysis patients in Birjand, a one-year old follow-up: brief report
Background: Chronic kidney disease is considered as one of the most common health problems in the world. High mortality and morbidity in these patients, are due to cardiovascular disease and infections. Neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio is recently known as an inflammatory marker. This study aimed to determine the ratio of neutrophil to lymphocyte count in hemodialysis patients in Birjand Special ...
متن کاملB and T Lymphocyte Attenuator is a Target of miR-155 during Naive CD4+ T Cell Activation
Background: MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) is upregulated during T cell activation, but the exact mechanisms by which it influences CD4+ T cell activation remain unclear. Objective: To examine whether the B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) is a target of miR-155 during naïve CD4+ T cell activation. Methods: Firefly luciferase reporter plasmids pEZX-MT01-wild-type-BTLA and pEZX-MT01-mutant-BTLA were ...
